As we were climbing up the glaciers in Tajikistan, one of the local guides said to me, “Mina, please tell these people directly. Look around you. The time for soft language is over. We need real action and we need it now."
School engagement
Founded by Mina, Thirst Foundation has educated over 2 million students on the global water crisis. Since being established in 2012, Thirst has been dedicated to raising awareness and inspiring action on water, especially among the next generation. The organisation has reached over 600,000 participants in its water innovation competitions and has collaborated with more than 400 schools, with the backing of over 900 qualified volunteers. Recently, Thirst celebrated its 500,000th graduate from its educational programs.
Through the Run Blue movement, Mina has inspired students around the world to engage in water advocacy by participating in running events. Schools from across the globe, such as Palmcroft Elementary School in Arizona and Delhi Private School, have joined the effort, using running as a platform to raise awareness and advocate for urgent action on the water crisis. These are just a few examples of the hundreds of schools and thousands of students Mina has engaged with during her expeditions. From rural villages to major cities, the Run Blue movement has touched classrooms in nearly every country Mina has visited, creating a powerful, global network of young people committed to solving the water crisis.
By connecting students to the water crisis through physical activity, students are empowered to take action, sparking change within their communities and beyond. If you are interested in joining the movement and bringing Run Blue to your school, email us to get involved in upcoming activations and initiatives.
