Why I Run

"Why?"

“Why did you take on the monumental challenge of running 200 marathons in one year? Why run alongside seven rivers and through seven deserts? And why attempt to run a marathon a day for 100 days?”

These are the questions I get asked most frequently during interviews.

The answer is simple yet incredibly important: I run to raise awareness of the water crisis, and more importantly, to inspire action from individuals like you.

My journey isn't just about running; it's about running with a purpose. I've laced up my sneakers and taken on these audacious goals not because I love running but because I am deeply passionate about safeguarding our planet's most precious resource - water - and the freshwater ecosystems and the rivers, lakes and wetlands that store and supply it.

I believe it's our duty to draw attention to the global water crisis - an issue that affects communities worldwide - and motivate people to take action.

Running for a cause isn't just about counting kilometres; it's about pushing boundaries, stepping out of our comfort zones, and taking action for a cause greater than ourselves. Tackling big, audacious goals, like running 200 marathons in 1 year, takes dedication, determination, and a willingness to do hard things.

Just like tackling the world’s water crisis.

But it also takes a team. Because no one could do this alone. And the bigger the team, the more we can achieve.

So join me - and thousands of others across the globe - on this journey. Let's walk and run further for water, because every step counts, and every drop counts.👟

This is your moment, your chance to make a difference. The water crisis is real, and it's a challenge that can no longer be ignored. Every step you take symbolizes your commitment to addressing this crisis. 💧💙
