Zero Waste Run

Collective action to combat waste and to solve water

The #ZeroWasteRun goes beyond awareness and emphasises tangible, collective action through Run Blue’s familiar campaign mechanic – running and walking for water. The Zero Waste Run highlighted how the zero waste movement can help combat climate change, water wastage and pollution.

While the 2021 edition did not include “plogging” (picking up  trash while running), the plogging element was introduced in 2022 in order to emphasise the need for real action to solve the global water crisis.

Shared responsibility and collective action were key themes that emerged from community-generated content. The community was engaged and motivated one another to come together and do more. Youth participation was again key, including with the Country Captains, children and their families and school participation.

We also celebrated an impactful group #ZeroWasteChampions from all walks of life who have committed their careers to addressing society's challenges in the fields of waste, plastic, and water pollution.
